For the past few weeks, I have been so excited to take the latest Vitamix model, the Vitamix 780, for a spin! Or, a whirl. A swirl? A blend? Whatever I get to do with it I am just excited to try it and bring the results of my Vitamix adventures to you guys. Plus I share my insight on which Vitamix I think you should purchase for your kitchen if you are looking to buy!..
Updated: I highly advise browsing Vitamix machines on Amazon! If you are a Prime member, you will get free shipping and there are some amazing deals!
Vitamix 780. There are already a few touchscreen blenders on the market, but hooray, this is the first touchscreen offering from Vitamix. Crash Course In Vitamix Models. OK, so buying a Vitamix can be a confusing task. Vitamix offers a wide variety of models and packages, so I am here to give some quick insight.
First thing to know: there are three categories of Vitamix blenders: S, C and G.
S-Series - Basically a mini Vitamix, less versatility in blending, but an awesome machine. I use the S-30 for small batches of recipes. This model has less power than C and G Series machines.
C-Series - Classic Series. All the essential features you want from a Vitamix can be found in these models. If choosing a C-Series, I say choose the

Totally normal if you were making super thick banana ice cream! You really have to work it.
I find that the tall and skinny container works much better than the wide short containers also for thick smoothies - just FYI.
But yes, when I make a thick smoothie or ice cream I am working the tamper for a good few minutes, and I stop to unclog air bubbles and scrape down the sides if needed.
Of course if you add more liquid you will use the tamper less.
Hope that helps!! 🙂

This helped me finally decide which one I want to get. The 750 shall be mine!

Awesome!!! I am SO glad I helped you make a decision! 🙂

Fantastic, KP. Where'd you learn to make an infographic like that? 🙂
Kathy Patalsky says
Thanks Lenny! That is nice to hear coming from a blender-pro like yourself. And lol, haha - omg this was my first infographic attempt ever. Not exactly Picasso, but at least I tried! 🙂 And I used Canva to help my design along.

You should do a video review of this one! Interesting read though. I love my 5200 but wish it had come with the low profile container because it won't fit on my counter under the cabinets... I have to set the container next to the base which takes up more space. Big first world problems over here. I don't think I could ever justify spending over $700 on a blender since the 5200 is already so great and I got it for under $400 at Costco.

I am thinking of doing a video! What would you like to see in it? I already have a few recipes where I show it blending, but would you be interested in a general overview of the machine video or are you more interested in watching it blend different types of recipes! Thanks!
And yes the low profile container is so helpful for low cabinets! As of right now I have to scooch my blender out a bit to blend anything. Not ideal, but it works. The back handle on this one really helps with moving it around.

More of a general overview where you make a few different types of things to see how it works with them. Thanks 🙂 I need to make your matcha latte soon. I'm thinking I may try homemade cashew milk in it - super into that lately.

I love both my Vitamix machines, the S55 and the G series Pro 750. I honestly love them so much I dont know what I would do without them. I had other brands, there is NOTHING like a Vitamix. Great review, enjoy the 780! I am a control freak so I like my manual knob, lol!:) The smoothie setting and frozen dessert setting on the Pro 750 is nice though. Such a helpful guide here, Kathy!

I agree!! When I go on long vacations and do not use my vitamix for a few days or weeks I always feel a little sad haha. Have to have my blending fix!!

I just bought my first Vitamix, the 7500, this evening and I'm so excited! I'm excited to finally make all the yummy recipes on your site that will benefit from a more powerful blender!
Kathy Patalsky says
That is great! You will have the BEST time getting to know your vitamix! You will love it! And yes, I have so many Vitamix recipes here on the blog and in my cookbooks. Congrats and enjoy! (Let me know if you need tips or have any questions once you start blending.)

Thank you so much! My blender was delivered today (so quick), so I had all afternoon to experiment. I made chocolate sorbet (almond milk, cocoa, frozen banana, ice, dates, dark chocolate square), and it seemed like the blender's blades were spinning but nothing was actually blending. I had to use the tamper pretty frequently to get things moving again. Is this normal? How can it be avoided? I had to blend for so long that my sorbet started to melt!
