The Apricot: Superfood!

by Kathy Patalsky · updated: Sep 13, 2019 · published: Jan 28, 2009 · About 1 minute to read this article. 6 Comments

Apricots are tiny pocket sized fruit gems.

They are fuzzy peach on the outside and creamy golden on the inside.

They pack a a big punch of Vitamin A (one contains 18% RDA), which helps make your skin have a healthy glow.

Winter frost? No worries. Canned apricots are actually quite tasty.

Fun Fact! Apricots were originally brought over to the USA from China.

    Kelsey,

While jam is usually heated to very high temperatures and destroys some of the delicate nutrients like vitamin c, I believe jam is still a healthy choice with fruity phytochemicals and nutrients. A much better choice than say butter...

Apricot jam is my favorite for morning toast. It reminds me of summertime, even when it's winter outside.
I wonder if jam retains all those lovely apricot nutrients. I would imagine so.
