10 Cool Things This Week

by Kathy Patalsky · updated: Mar 23, 2020 · published: Mar 12, 2015 · About 2 minutes to read this article. 45 Comments

It has been a busy few weeks and that means I have way too many things I want to post about, so instead of making myself (and you guys) crazy, I am doing a round-up of all the fun stuff I have to share. From ExpoWest to SXSW, green smoothies and a cookbook giveaway, launching an App and being part of an amazing (huge) blender giveaway and video. Many cool things to share with you, experience, talk about and get excited for .. before I collapse on the couch and binge watch Netflix with a mug of cocoa in my lap. That sounds pretty darn COOL to me right now too. Lets put that on my calendar ASAP...

1. I Launched the FindingVegan App! On Tuesday I launched an iPhone App! The Finding Vegan App is based on my recipe-sharing website FindingVegan.com. I created Finding Vegan a few years ago, during the hot, sticky NYC summer of 2009. It started with about ten bloggers submitting their photos and has slowly grown to have thousands of users. FV now has over 69,000 registered users, 450,000 likes on facebook, 64,000 approved recipe submissions available to browse on the App (and website) and more. I am SO excited that after months of work, the App is finally released. You can read all the details here on Finding Vegan. Including where to get the App! If you love finding vegan recipes online from your fave food bloggers, this App is a MUST. Positive App store reviews are appreciated greatly to help give the App some legs. (And yes, we have an Android version in the works.) App Details on FindingVegan.com!

My 12 (almost 13!) year old son babysitting for the first time and knocking it out of the park! Each one of the kids (three adorable boys) work up the next morning and asked if he could come back that day, because they had so much fun with him. And bonus points, he cleaned up the kitchen and house!

Going on a little exploration at the tide pools after work with my boyfriend and his best friend and then the next day going on a little hike up Laguna Canyon with my boyfriend, then seeing my brother's band play at The House of Blues in Anaheim were my highlights this week! Cool, fun and amazing!

Had a great week. I got some great news. My 13 yr. old daughter who has juvenille arthritis was told this week that she is showing no signs of arthritis right now. She has had some medicine in the past, but for the last 6 months, we have only used diet to help her.

Wow exciting things going on! Congrats on the launch of your Finding Vegan App. That's super exciting! I totally missed out on the Expo-West. A friend went and invited me along, but I couldn't make it. I hope to one day meet you at an expo or something, that would be so cool =) Love the yellow pants the other day - you should call them SunPants ;p

Thursday, March 12th was my birthday. I wound up in the Emergency Room with vertigo. In the Emergency Room my husband, brother and sister in law told me if I would just eat cheeseburgers this wouldn't have happened to me. Not how I wanted to spend my birthday...but no way did it make me want to have a cheeseburger!

I am loving all the vegan salads and smoothies that I can get in. This week, by kicking out the creamer of my coffee, lost my coffee habit, and developed a great appreciation for matcha tea in the morning! I keep getting closer to my vegan goals and that is so exciting!!

Hey Kathy! My week is awesome for multiple reasons! 1) My bachelorette party is this weekend in Savannah, GA 2) My logo was designed for my blog and I love it! 3) I received a sweet and heart felt thank you from a small local vegan restaurant here in Columbia, SC for the promoting I do for them (I just really like their food haha) 4) The vegetarian-trying-to-turn-vegan barista at Starbucks gave me a free latte today because no one picked it up and he knew I was vegan and it was made with coconut milk! 5) I took my first early AM yoga class on Wednesday and the sun rose around me as I practiced and it was absolutely amazing. Soo, not quite on your level, but this week totally rocks! 🙂

I am leading a vegan cooking class at my church and this week we're focusing on quick vegan breakfasts! I was nervous to offer leading this group and thought the topic wouldn't be well received, but to my delight the seats are always full and new people show up every week! I think that's pretty cool!

I'm generally not a "post comments" type of person, but that book looks amazing! I'm excited about having done tons of research this week in advance of buying my first juicer! I don't have the budget for a Super Angel like yours, but I think I've narrowed it down to one of those masticating Omegas. Juicing will be totally new to me!
